First Holy Communion

Parish Preparation

At St. Georges & Holy Spirit Parish, This sacrament is celebrated every weekend by the community as well as every weekday.

Each year we prepare our younger parishioners to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time.

Preparation for the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist is received in the third year of primary school, we follow a ten week programme of preparation through the “I belong “ Redemptorist Publishers  with the support of  our Catholic parish school St. George’s Catholic Voluntary Academy.  All children not attending a Catholic School are welcome to join us along with their families and we will provide all materials approved by the Diocese and incorporate the children in our parish sacramental celebration.

The parents are expected to attend the parent meetings, which are scheduled to clarify the role of the parent, the parish procedures and to distribute materials. The celebration of the Sacrament occurs at a special Mass on Saturday & Sunday in May.. Your child should be baptised a Catholic or be undertaking instruction for Baptism. . Adaptive procedures for older children are available as well a extra support for special needs. . Contact the Parish for more information.

To receive the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist for the first time as an adult or older child, please consult our priest so that we can help facilitate with an adapted programme.
